Coco Chanel famously said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” However she was no stranger to layering her necklaces.
Wearing more than 1 necklace at a time, gives an extra level of interest to your outfit and an insight into your personal style. The trick to pulling off this look is to have varying lengths of chain but a continuing theme in the colour or style.
Worn with an open neck line, they look fabulous with knitwear or shirts but there are some simple rules to follow to execute this look to it’s best:
- Use the rule of 3 – The rule guideline of threes say that things arranged in odd numbers are more appealing, memorable, and effective than even-numbered groupings
- Mix and match styles – Pair a delicate pendant necklace with a chunky gold choker necklace, and finish off the look with a long lariat. Introduce a pop of colour with charms or eye-catching enamel. Or, personalize your necklace stack with a signature symbol you love to wear, like an anchor or infinity sign. Draw attention to your décolletage with diamonds or other glittering gemstones.
- Experiment with different lengths – It will be easier to start from the top when choosing and preventing tangles
- Don’t spend too much time on it – This look should appear to be effortless and individual. There is no set way to wear them, so have fun with it and try out different combinations.
